Interesting statistics from the Mayor of Slidell:
25,000 - 30,000 trees fell during the storm (Chris says more!)
176 mph sustained winds
190 mph wind gusts
26 foot waves off Lake Ponchartrain
5000 utility poles fell
87% of Slidell is damaged to some extent (not destroyed as the news seems to have reported)
50% of Slidell residents cannot return to their homes.
All that and the mall opened today!
(I recently discovered the ability to change the font color in this thing ... be prepared.)
